Well I have to say it…… I am THE worst blogger ever.
I dont know many awesome bloggers that go over 6 months without posting something.
So I am creating a belated New Years resolution!
This year I am going to blog more often!!
And Im going to start with my back yard!
Just to be frank…its bone dry. The soil here is rock hard and unless you have unlimited amounts of water (the columbia river might work), grass tends to die here.
By here, I mean Tucson, Arizona.
My hubby and I got lucky enough to be based in this beautiful state.
No sarcasm here! The sunsets look like paintings, the smell of desert sage after a monsoon is a slice of heaven, and the wildlife is absolutely fascinating!
So back to the story at hand!!
My cowboy and I live on the local airforce base, in a nice home, with a decent sized back yard.
Most bases are pretty strict about what you do to your yards, but this base will let you landscape if it improves the value of the home!
So my goal is to take my back yard of rock hard desert dirt and turn it into my own tropical oasis!!
Im posting the before pictures today, and as I do more, I will post more pictures! Hope you guys enjoy!
its been quite some time since Ive blogged, and a lot has happened. Stephen joined the United States Air Force and is currently in Basic training. Basic training lasts 8 1/2 to 10 weeks and Stephen is currently in week 6. And holy cow let me tell you! I miss my husband!
But during a very difficult and emotional time, Ive found ways to stay busy! Working out, reading, cleaning, cooking, and more working out! Stephen has been extremely successful in basic, he has been Element leader from day 1 and is on the Blue (honor) track for physical training!
I’m so proud of him! The whole family is proud! His graduation is in 2 and a half weeks and you can bet that ill be posting tons of pictures of this event!!
On a side note, I have acquired 3 new country style cook books and am super excited to try out some recipes. so im making a grocery list and heading out the door!
see y’all soon!!
Today was spent with an old friend, an oven, and a kitchen aid. And I’m am more than thrilled to post the recipe of the most amazing cupcakes I have ever had. And may I say, damn my friend can bake!!
The wonderful thing about living in the Pacific North West, is the salmon runs. Did you know that some salmon travel 600 miles up river just to end their long journey, dried up on a river bank to be some other critters dinner? Salmon provide the river systems with tons of nutrients and help improve the lives of other creatures at the end of their long journey. As an avid fisher-woman, their journey amazes me. So i decided at the end of this salmon season, I would photograph their end. On this trip, I not only managed to capture images of the fish, but I found amazing fall colors, and a dog at play!
My dad, the photographer, hard at work!
“Mom, when is grandpa gonna go swim in the freezing water with me?”
“What’s he looking at anyways?”
gruesome, but honest.
The last moments of life….
Like I said before, my dog catches them better than i do!
He wasn’t expecting it to fight back!
Darn! It got away!
Tree growing out of a really cool rock face!
I Recently Turned 23 Years Old. This means a few things….Salmon season, Cold and flu season, and Fall colors. Funny enough, I got to experience all of these things on my birthday. On October 5th, I was sporting the worst cold Ive ever had, watching my Dad fish for salmon, and viewing the beautiful colors the trees were turning. I feel i should explain The Cold. When I am sick, I get cabin fever. And on my birthday, I was determined, no matter how sick I was, to get out of the house and do something! So, we went fishing! Well, dad went fishing. I didn’t quite have the energy to wade into freezing water. So I took my guitar and serenaded the fisherman that were lining the riverbank, while my husband, tried to play photographer :).
this one is actually pretty good!
My dad out in the river….
my dads boots……hmmm what was he thinking taking this picture?
me playing guitar…. haha
